Gizzard soup is a delightful and hearty dish that not only satisfies your taste buds but also brings significant nutritional benefits. Gizzards are high in protein and low in fat, making them an excellent choice for those looking to increase their protein intake without adding excessive calories. A single serving of chicken gizzards provides significant amounts of essential vitamins and minerals, including iron, zinc, vitamin B12, and selenium. These nutrients play crucial roles in maintaining energy levels, supporting immune function, and promoting overall health. Furthermore, gizzards are rich in collagen, which supports skin health and joint function, and contain coenzyme Q10, vital for energy production and antioxidant protection.

Incorporating gizzards into your diet can also aid in weight management and muscle repair due to their high protein content. The lean nature of gizzards makes them a suitable addition to a heart-healthy diet, helping to reduce fat intake while ensuring an adequate supply of essential nutrients. Their versatility in cooking methods allows for various delicious preparations, from soups and stews to stir-fries and grills. Given these benefits, gizzards deserve a spot on your plate, offering a nutritious and flavorful option for enhancing your meals.

Hungarian cottage cheese

This is what Hungarian túró looks like

You often ask me what kind of cottage cheese (or curd cheese or farmer's cheese - call it what you want) I use in the recipes. In Hungary the store-bought cottage cheese is dry and crumbly as you can see in the picture. So if a recipe calls for túró, I mean this type. If you can't obtain túró, you can try to make your own from whole milk. Click on the link below.

Metric system vs cup

In Hungary metric units are in use, all the recipes on this website are based on this system, so a kitchen scale is necessary. Since I’m not familiar with cup as a measurement unit, I convert grams to cups by using an online converter. The values in brackets, therefore, are only approximate volumes, so, please, double-check them before you start cooking.
